Dell Technologies World 2026: Building the AI-native enterprise

Artificial intelligence is no longer an experimental initiative operating on the edges of the business. At Dell Technologies World 2026, the message was clear: AI has become foundational infrastructure for the modern enterprise. 

Across two keynote sessions led by Michael Dell and Jeff Clarke, Dell Technologies outlined a vision for the future in which organizations move beyond isolated pilots and toward fully integrated, AI-native operating models. The event highlighted how enterprises are rethinking infrastructure, data, security and operational strategy to support the rapid acceleration of agentic AI.

From AI experiments to enterprise infrastructure

Opening the conference, Michael Dell emphasized that the industry has crossed a turning point. AI is no longer confined to screens or productivity tools; it is becoming embedded in hospitals, manufacturing facilities, supply chains, energy grids and financial systems. 

As enterprises adopt AI at scale, the conversation is shifting from experimentation to execution. Organizations are now focused on how to operationalize AI securely, efficiently and close to where their data resides. 

To support this shift, Dell introduced several announcements designed to help organizations to modernize AI infrastructure, including:

  • The Dell AI Data Platform with NVIDIA
  • New PowerEdge XE server innovations
  • Dell Exascale Storage
  • Dell PowerRack
  • Expanded AI ecosystem partnerships with organizations including Google Cloud, OpenAI, Hugging Face, Palantir and ServiceNow

A recurring theme throughout the conference was the enterprise data — not just foundation models — will become the true differentiator in the AI era. 

The rise of the AI-native enterprise

On day two of the conference, Dell COO Jack Clarke focused on what it means to become an "AI-native enterprise." According to Clarke, organizations can no longer treat AI as a standalone technology initiative. Instead, AI must become embedded into workflows, decision-making processes and business operations. 

Clarke outlined five priorities for organizations looking to accelerate AI adoption:

Build an AI-ready data foundation

Most enterprise data remains fragmented and unstructured. Organizations need architectures that allow AI systems to access and act on data wherever it lives while maintaining governance and compliance. 

Deploy distributed AI infrastructure

Training, inference and reasoning workloads each require different infrastructure strategies. Enterprises must balance cloud, edge and on-premises deployments to support scalability, performance and cost optimization. 

Secure autonomous systems 

As agentic AI systems gain the ability to make decisions and execute actions autonomously, security becomes increasingly critical. Enterprises need visibility, governance and auditability across every AI-driven process. 

Integrate the enterprise stack 

AI agents cannot operate effectively in silos. Success depends on integrating AI across enterprise applications, workflows and operational systems. 

Develop a sustainable token economics strategy

One of the most significant conversations at Dell Technologies World centered on token consumption and AI operating costs. As AI usage accelerates, organizations will need to optimize where workloads run to balance performance, security and economics. 

AI at the edge and on-premises

One of the most compelling themes from the event was the growing importance of on-premises and edge AI. 

Dell demonstrated how organizations can deploy agentic AI capabilities locally using Dell Deskside Agentic AI and Dell Pro Precision workstations. These solutions are designed to help enterprises build, test and fine-tune AI agents without relying exclusively on public cloud infrastructure. 

This approach addresses several growing enterprise concerns:

  • Data sovereignty
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Intellectual property protection
  • Predictable operational costs
  • Reduced latency for real-time AI applications

The conference also reinforced the idea that enterprises are increasingly looking for hybrid AI models that combine the flexibility of cloud services with the control and security of on-premises infrastructure. 

Infrastructure still matters

While much of the broader AI conversations focuses on models and applications, Dell Technologies World highlighted the growing importance of infrastructure. As AI workloads become more compute-intensive, organizations are rethinking how they design data centers, storage architectures and networking environments. 

Dell introduced new liquid-cooled infrastructure solutions and enhanced storage platforms designed to support high-performance AI environments while addressing energy efficiency and scalability challenges. 

The company also emphasized that AI adoption requires more than hardware alone. Success depends on building integrated ecosystems that combine infrastructure, data management, security and operational workflows. 

What enterprise leaders should take away

Dell Technologies World 2026 reinforced several important realities for enterprise leaders:

  • AI adoption is accelerating faster than many organizations anticipated
  • The gap between AI leaders and laggards is widening 
  • Data strategy is becoming central to AI success
  • Hybrid and on-premises AI models are gaining momentum
  • Infrastructure modernization is now directly tied to AI readiness

Perhaps most importantly, the event underscored that AI transformation is no longer solely a technology initiative — it is becoming an enterprise operating model. 

Organizations that can align infrastructure, governance, security and business strategy around AI will be better positioned to scale innovation and create long-term competitive advantage.

Dell Technologies World 2026 painted a picture of an enterprise landscape where intelligence is distributed across every layer of the organization. As AI moves deeper into core business operations, enterprises will need trusted infrastructure, integrated ecosystems and clear governance frameworks to operationalize AI responsibly and at scale.
