The MGC3130-I is a 3D tracking and gesture controller designed and manufactured by Microchip. The MGC3130-I utilizes Microchip GestIC technology, which allows for capacitive touchscreens to recognize natural finger and gesture movements. The controller has a receiver sensitivity of 1 fF, a position rate of 200 positions per second, and a proximity range of 10 cm. The MGC3130-I integrates one transmitter channel and five receiver channels, has on-chip auto calibration, and on-board filtering, including both digital and analog stages. The use of transmitter and receiver channels allows for the MGC3130-I to make capacitive interfaces out of low-cost surfaces and materials, including PCBs, conductive paint, and conductive foil. Furthermore, the MGC3130-I uses I2C for interfacing with microcontrollers and processors, and the MGC3130-I has an operating temperature range of –20°C to 85°C.
