Monetizing AI: Attractive AI use cases for healthcare customers

Healthcare organizations are projected to invest more than $51.8 billion (USD) globally in AI use cases in 2026, with spending expected to exceed $130.2 billion by 2029, according to IDC.1 


There are many example use cases organizations are trying out. Here’s a look at some of the use cases we’ve been seeing with Arrow partners supporting healthcare end customers and how much IDC predicts these use cases to grow over the next three years. 






As with the financial services use cases previously discussed, many AI use cases are industry agnostic and are applicable to customers in other sectors as well. Let’s take a closer look at what might drive your healthcare customers to adopt these within their organizations.

Augmented contact center and field service

AI spending on this use case is projected to grow over 40% by 2029 among healthcare organizations. Augmented contact centers and field service help move patient-facing issues to resolution faster while keeping the experience consistent across digital channels. Patient intake and scheduling activities can be conducted using an AI agent to guide patients through routine tasks and escalate to humans as needed. This helps reduce friction for patients and creates efficiencies for staff. We’ve even helped a partner tailor a virtual avatar to reflect brand, incorporate their custom knowledge base, and respond in a style aligned to their communication standards.

Augmented software development

Augmented software development has a three-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 39.1% among healthcare organizations globally. This AI use case is attractive because it helps teams build and improve digital solutions faster, including those that support day-to-day workflows through user interfaces, experiences, and multimedia elements. Instead of starting from scratch, engineers can prompt AI to generate blocks of code or take existing code and refine it. This enables them iterate faster and more accurately. 

AI-powered employee engagement and retention

IDC predicts the AI-powered employee engagement and retention use case to have a CAGR of 39% in the healthcare sector. This AI use case can turn everyday signals that employees already generate (e.g., work patterns, feedback, and learning needs) into personalized recommendations that help strengthen manager–employee 1:1s and keep development plans tied to career goals. Recently at Arrow, a partner worked with us to help their customer, a senior living facility, that needed consultation to accelerate onboarding and employee training. They were particularly focused on helping nurses adopt AI to improve their workflows. 

This use case offers operational enablement that helps frontline teams feel supported, reduces friction in adoption, and makes growth and coaching more consistent. Any organization looking to augment its HR delivery and operations could benefit.

Augmented claims processing

With a 38.8% CAGR globally among healthcare organizations, augmented claims processing is another area worth exploring. Also discussed when we looked at AI in the financial services sector, this use case provides support and guidance in intelligent data capture and analysis for investigators and adjusters to investigate and resolve insurance claims. Unlike basic chatbot implementations, augmented claims processing requires advanced expertise to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows, making it a more impactful and innovative approach.

Smart campaign and content marketing

Among healthcare customers, smart campaign and content marketing is projected to grow by 34.4% over the next three years. In my meetings with partners, I’m seeing a growing demand for more personalized marketing content paired with clearer ways to measure whether campaigns are actually working. End users, i.e., patients, are expecting more personalized digital interactions vs. generic email blasts. Arrow can provide blueprints and demos that make the value tangible and help you visualize how smarter, more tailored engagement can be executed and measured in the real world.

Augmented pharmaceutical research and discovery

Rounding out our sample of AI use cases is augmented pharmaceutical research, which has a three-year CAGR of 32.1% among global healthcare organizations. This use case helps analyze and make connections within genomic, clinical trial, electronic medical record data and in pharmaceutical research and discovery. One specific example is our NVIDIA Parabricks demo which increases genomic sequencing by 30 to 50x compared to traditional CPU-based workloads.
