LTC4380: High-Voltage Surge Stopper And Current Limiter

The LTC4380 is a member of Analog Devices’ Surge Stopper family, which provides surge suppression and current limiting in harsh industrial applications.

The LTC4380 is highly efficient, needing only 8µA of quiescent current to be fully operational. It has two gate clamp thresholds - 31.5V and 50V, which are controlled via an external series N-channel MOSFET. Once the clamp voltage is reached, a timer is started. If the timer expires, the LTC4380 turns off the MOSFET, thus preserving the circuit. The duration before a timeout is governed by the stress placed on the MOSFET, and the LTC4380 is able to withstand surges of up to hundreds of volts. With class-leading surge suppression ability and low power consumption, this component is well-suited for industrial, automotive, and avionics applications.
