Cypress also presents a fantastic line of 3.0-V SPI NOR Flash memory products with features that make them optimal for code shadowing, XIP and data storage. Incorporating 256Mb SPI NOR Flash Memory, these memory products are ideal for applications such as video game consoles, networking devices, advanced driver assistance systems and automotive instrument clusters and infotainment systems. Typically, NOR architecture suffers from low write and erase performance, which is less than ideal for system efficiency. Cypress has addressed this point of weakness with the FL series; while other NOR memory products are limited to a program time of 0.5 ms per 256 bytes and sector erase times as high as 700 ms, these high-speed devices have quite the impressive program time of 0.30 ms per 256 bytes and an expedient 50-ms sector erase time. Finally, Cypress’s 3.0-V SPI NOR Flash Memory products feature a uniform 4KB sector architecture, providing more flexibility for users when they are deciding where to store code and parametric data. The FL products are available in industry standard 8-pin SOIC, 16-pin SOIC, 24-ball BGA, and 8-contact WSON packages to simplify board layout.
