Commvault's recent acquisition of Clumio further strengthens its capabilities in AWS environments. Clumio built its reputation by providing cloud-native data protection, backup, and recovery services for AWS, Microsoft 365, and VMware environments. This acquisition aligns with Commvault’s cloud-first strategy by simplifying backup operations and offering cost-effective, easy-to-manage solutions. Clumio’s security features, including encryption and air-gapped backups, also enhance Commvault’s cyber resilience capabilities.
By integrating Clumio’s SaaS platform, Commvault can improve data protection and recovery for critical AWS workloads, allowing organisations to secure their data in real time without the need for complex backup infrastructure. From a business perspective, the acquisition presents new cross-selling opportunities. Additionally, Commvault leaders have expressed enthusiasm about the influx of high-level engineering talent from Clumio.
