When designing electronics systems, it’s critical that every component is as durable and high-performing as possible. This includes all cabling and connectors, both input and output, too. This article from Amphenol explores the lineup of highly flexible, rugged, low-loss LMR® braided cable solutions.

The LMR® cable solution offers a complete line of highly flexible, rugged, low-loss braided cables with the fastest, easiest connector installation available. LMR cables provide superior performance compared to RG cables of similar size.

Standard LMR

LMR standard solutions are high-performance broadband, flexible, low-loss 50 Ohm coaxial cables. Features include 100% effective shielding, available as pre-terminated assemblies, and rugged resistance to UV, sunlight, and weather.

LMR standard coaxial cable is a UV-resistant polyethylene jacketed cable designed for 20-year service outdoor use. The bending and handling characteristics are significantly better than those of air-dielectric and corrugated hard-line cables.

Ideal applications:

  • Jumper assemblies in wireless systems
  • Short antenna feeder runs
  • Applications requiring an easily routed, low-loss RF cable

LMR UltraFlex

LMR UltraFlex cable has a stranded center conductor and rubber outer jacket designed for multiple bending/ flexing cycles. It is used for both indoor and outdoor applications.

LMR LLPX®

Indoor, highly fire-retardant cable designed for runs within return air handling plenums (e.g. dropped ceilings, raised floors).

LLPX coaxial cables are low-loss coaxial cables designed for superior electrical performance and minimal signal attenuation. They are ideal for applications requiring consistent signal integrity over long distances, making them suitable for both commercial and military use.

LMR EZ Connectors

EZ Connectors are solderless connectors designed for quick, reliable terminations of coaxial cables. EZ connectors utilize a spring finger center contact which eliminates the need for soldering, reducing the risk of errors. The EZ design provides a quick, reliable termination which isn’t subject to the many variables associated with soldering such as cold solder joints, too much or too little solder, flux residue or melting of the dielectric. These connectors are ideal for applications where easy assembly and strong connections are crucial.

LMR Connectors

Our TC solder-pin connectors enjoy all of the positive attributes of our EZ connectors such as CST prep tool and WSB boot compatibility, tri-metal or bi-metal outer body plating, center contacts plated in accordance with MIL-STD-39012, excellent VSWR and elimination of the need to trim braid wires. TC connectors are required when working with our LMR Ultraflex cables which utilize a stranded center conductor.
