FPGA Acceleration Stick: The main idea of an external FPGA stick on a PC is, to offload critical or difficult CPU workloads to an USB 3.0 connected acceleration stick and make the system more efficient. Critical tasks can be AntiVirus, data-filtering, rendering, de/encryption, graphic, algortihms, Matlab,…!   This project contains three main topics and can be chosen separately. First is the development of an USB 3.0 driver/API on the PC side, to download and flash an Intel FPGA image via USB 3.0. Second is the efficient data sharing of a test algorithm with low latency between the PC and the FPGA via USB 3.0. Third is the application layer, to convert an algorithm or application into an FPGA image on the PC side and share low latency data content from the PC to the FPGA, to offload workloads.

NUC PC / Element:

Full features NUCs (Next Unit of Computing) are small form factor PCs, on a unified and scalable platform. There are four groups of NUC PCs available. NUCs are covering the full range of Intel CPUs, from low range to high performance in a compact solution and can deliver 24/7 operation time.

NUC Element: A full scalable CPU platform for standard, embedded and rugged applications. There are three basic types available, NUC Compute Elements, NUC Board Elements and NUC Chassis Elements. 
A NUC Compute Element is the compact CPU board itself, as a plugin module.
A NUC Board Element is a small motherboard, where the Compute Element is plugged in. These motherboards can also be designed by the customer itself, to meet dedicated requirements. 
A NUC Chassis Element is available as compact PC housing or also as rugged version for higher environmental requirements.
