ADI-BATTERY-STACK-MONITOR
The Analog Devices ADI-BATTERY-STACK-MONITOR is an evaluation platform designed for a quick evaluation, proof of concept development or prototyping of a Battery management system.
The ADI-BATTERY-STACK-MONITOR is a multi-board solution and features the MAX32626 Ultra-Low-Power Arm Cortex-M4, which includes on-chip FPU-Based Microcontroller (MCU), 512KB Flash, and 160KB SRAM. It also features the Analog Devices Multicell Battery Stack Monitor device ADBMS1818.
In this multi-board evaluation platform the BMCU Board Unit serves as a master and can be connected to one or more Analog Devices EVAL-ADBMS1818 Slave Battery Stack Monitors via an isoSPI interface. Multiple devices can be connected in series in a daisy-chained manner having a single connection with the BMCU Board Unit, allowing simultaneous cell monitoring of long, high-voltage battery strings. Each EVAL-ADBMS1818 Slave Battery Stack Monitor has an isoSPI interface for high-speed, RF immune and long-distance communications. This daisy chain can be operated bidirectionally, ensuring communication integrity, even in the event of a fault along the communication path.
The system is meant to monitor real battery cells but can also be connected to the Analog Devices DC2472A 18-Cell Stimulus Board which simulates a battery and enables testing through voltage adjustment potentiometers.
Test Setup
The figure below shows the setup of the ADI-BATTERY-STACK-MONITOR using the BMCU Board Unit and EVAL-ADBMS1818 Slave Battery Stack Monitor. The DC2472A 18-Cell Stimulus Board is connected to the EVAL-ADBMS1818 Slave Battery Stack Monitor to simulate the battery voltage. Alternatively, a real 18 cell battery pack can be used.
