Increase your K-12 SLED opportunities with the E-Rate program

May 14, 2025

The technology needs in today’s educational institutions continue to increase year over year. And nowhere are those needs felt more than in elementary, middle and high schools. For those who want to enter or expand in this market, there is a federally funded program that benefits schools and districts who want or need to upgrade their technology infrastructure.

Founded in 1996, the E-Rate program, governed by the FCC, funds both external access/broadband technology, and internal connections such as networking, IT devices and managed network services.

E-Rate functions as a reimbursement program that pays for technology investments at public and private schools, public libraries and tribal colleges and universities.

Navigating E-Rate is not a simple process. You need to understand the timing of funding awards and engaging with IT manufacturers/vendors and solutions providers, as well as the whole application process that educational institutions must follow.

In this video, SLED Channel Manager Donlei Mullinax walks you through how E-Rate works, the timing of awards and how they can be a part of the process assisting K-12 and other educational institutions manage and procure their IT needs.

SLED solutions providers have an opportunity to expand their educational footprint in the market as preparations begin for FY2026. This information will help you get started, but as always, Arrow’s public sector team is available to help you in your understanding and success when it comes to E-Rate.
