Get started with Low-Power Wi-Fi 6: A hands-on workshop

Experts from Arrow, Silicon Labs and Ezurio provide training with the Veda SL917 Explorer Board

Silicon Labs SiWx917 SoC is ideal for developing ultra-low power IoT wireless devices leveraging Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth, Matter, and IP networking. Engineering experts from Arrow, Silicon Labs, and Ezurio will provide hands-on, technical instruction during this all-day in-person workshop. Dates and locations in both Europe and the United States will be released throughout the year.

The Ezurio Veda SL917, based upon Silicon Labs SiWx917 chipset, includes a low power Wi-Fi 6 plus Bluetooth LE v5.4 wireless CPU subsystem, combined with an integrated application MCU subsystem, security, peripherals and power management in a small 16 x 21.1 x 2.3 mm SMT package. Target applications include smart home, consumer health and wearables, medical, industrial, retail, smart building and cities, and asset tracking.

During these workshops you will receive your own Veda SL917 Explorer Board that you can take with you after the event concludes. Using this hardware, you will create low power applications, using Simplicity Studio V5 and Ezurio’s Canvas MicroPython. Requirements include bringing your laptop with the software pre-installed:

•  Simplicity Studio version 5
•  WiSeConnect v3.4.1 or later according linked instructions
•  Tera Term
•   Web browser ability to access unsecured web page (starting with [http://]http://)
•  Canvas setup procedure: linked walk through instructions
•  Visual Studio Code as IDE for Canvas development
•  our Xbit extension installed into VSCode
•  Python extension installed into VSCode
•  Download latest Canvas firmware from GitHub (two .rps files in the Canvas Python Firmware Repository)
•  Download Canvas Python Sample repository from github (green “<> Code” button -> Download ZIP)
