The R-78E series are switching regulators, which are pin compatible with the LM78xx range and have a wide input voltage range of 7 V to 28 V. Due to the use of switching circuitry, the R-78E series are 91% efficient and require no heat sink when working at full load. The R-78E series are capable of supplying up to 1 A of current and are available in 5 V and 3.3 V output. The R-78E series of DC/DC regulators also include short circuit protection and over current protection where the short circuit protection has automatic recovery and the over current protection has a trip point of 200% maximum load. These switching regulators have an operating temperature range of the R-78E series is -40°C to +85°C and are able to handle up to 95% relative humidity. The R-78E series are also IEC/EN60950-1 + AM2 certified.
