The XDP™ digital power XDPS21081 is a flyback controller with zero voltage switching (ZVS) on the primary side to achieve high efficiency with simplified circuitry and economical switches resulting in lower BOM cost.
By driving an external low-voltage switch to induce a negative current to discharge the main high voltage MOSFET, switching losses can be reduced further than traditional valley switching types of switching schemes.
To achieve high efficiency with synchronous rectification, the newly released XDPS21081 multi-mode digital forced-frequency resonant (FFR) flyback controller IC ensures DCM (discontinued conduction mode) operation via valley detection for a safe and robust operation.

Solutions for Solar Energy Systems
Combining solar panels with energy storage systems is one effective way of synchronizing supply and demand. Efficient and reliable power semiconductors and inverter technologies are required to convert DC to AC and transmit the power with minimal losses. Depending on their implementation topologies, inverters fall into the micro-inverter, power optimizer, string inverter or central inverter categories.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
They are used in many applications including industrial manufacturing processes, telecommunications, data centers, medical appliances and in small offices or home office environments, also known as S.O.H.O.
They typically include MOSFET based inverters that operate from 12 V or 24 V lead-acid batteries. Higher battery voltages are required to limit operating currents in higher power rated systems. 42 V and 72 V systems also exist for the same reason, however since these are somewhat less common, this reference design is based on a 12 V battery. Batteries may be external or internal to the UPS, car batteries are used externally and sealed lead-acid internally. UPS systems can be classified into three main categories: offline / standby UPS, line-interactive UPS, online / double-conversion UPS.
