Safe, fast, and reliable connection and disconnection

Electric vehicles have gone mainstream, offering faster acceleration, instant torque, and an improved driving experience. But the intricacies of electrification make product design inherently more complex.

TE Connectivity has been leading the electrification charge since the beginning. They build high-voltage connectivity solutions that are the electrical foundation for safe and reliable zero-emission cars.

TE products cover the complete spectrum of EV energy transfer, providing safe, reliable, durable, and efficient electrical systems connectivity that meets the increased power ratings and higher thermal and vibration requirements that design engineers’ demand.

Main Circuit Protection:

   • Main contactors are connected to both the positive and negative circuits of the traction battery,
disconnecting the battery from the entire electric drivetrain in the vehicle.

Precharge Relay:

   • Protects the main contactors from a voltage surge,a precharge relay is used, together with a precharge resistor,
to charge the filter capacitor of the power inverter to a level of typically 90 to 98 percent of the battery voltage.

AC and DC Charger Contactors:

   • Establish a connection between the battery charger and the traction battery when the vehicle is connected to a
     charging station.

Auxiliary Load Contactors:

   • Control other electrical loads that are powered by the battery, such as the high-voltage electric heater or air
    conditioner.
