Arrow Electronics Assists Customers as Deadline for China’s RoHS Environmental Regulation Draws Near

MELVILLE, N.Y. – February 26, 2007 – Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) is assisting its customers as new environmental compliance regulations in China come into effect on March 1. The company is sponsoring informational seminars and also offering resources on its Web site as Europe, China and other industrial nations strengthen their commitment to environmental protection.

“Arrow Electronics is cognizant of the challenges that global producers and sellers of electronic products will be facing in 2007 and in the coming years,” said Debra Boelkes, who leads the China RoHS global initiatives for Arrow Electronics. “Arrow helped guide its customers through the complexities of the European RoHS directive, and will continue to offer advice and assistance on the changing environmental landscape.”

China’s environmental regulations follow on the heels of the European Union’s (EU) Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive. The EU directive, which went into effect in July 2006, placed restrictions on the use of lead and five other environmental contaminants in the manufacturing of electronic and electrical products entering the EU market.

Phase one of China RoHS, with a March 1 deadline, requires hazardous substance identification labeling on products and its packaging. Phase two of China RoHS, deadline to be determined yet, will list specific products subject to certain substance restrictions, and will include compulsory pre-market testing and certification by a Chinese-certified test lab before the product is placed on the market.

Arrow continues to keep its customers updated with the latest environmental regulations. The company’s next informational seminar on new environmental regulations will be held in Tempe, Ariz., on March 6, for Arrow customers responsible for design, engineering, purchasing, operations, manufacturing and customer service.

Visit the company’s “green” Web site at www.arrow.com/green for more information on the seminar, plus valuable resources and guidance about current and future regulatory issues.
