Viva EDS (in Las Vegas)Highlights from the Electronic Distribution Show and Conference (EDS) With more than 3,700 conventions hosted annually, Las Vegas, Nevada is the meeting place for thousands of business professionals. Last week was no different as the Electronic Distribution Show and Conference (EDS) made its annual debut from May 14-17 at the Paris and Bally’s Hotels. EDS is the most important event for the electronic components industry in North America, bringing together more than 5,000 professionals in manufacturing and distribution. “EDS is a terrific opportunity to develop and strengthen business partnerships,” said Michael J. Long, president, Global Components, Arrow Electronics, as he welcomed 400 suppliers and Arrow representatives during a reception on Monday, May 14, at the Bellagio Hotel. “The primary reason we’re all here is to talk about PEMCO – passives, electromechanical and connectors – a strong and growing product segment for Arrow and for our industry,” he continued. Arrow was visible in many ways during the event. Several Arrow leaders provided their insights and expertise during three panel discussions on topics ranging from conducting business in the Asia Pacific region, to the role of information in today’s global business environment. Executives who participated on panels included Long; Skip Streber, vice president, Global Supplier Marketing; and Brian McNally, president, Global Alliance and Supply Chain. For more information, see the press release. Arrow also received awards and recognition from many supplier partners, winning 11 awards for its outstanding business performance and support:
“It’s so rewarding to know that our supplier partners recognize the dedication and hard work of our many employees who go above and beyond to ensure that their needs, and that of our customers, are continuously met,” said Long. “I am proud of the many awards we received that recognize their contributions and the leadership of Arrow as the number one PEMCO distributor in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.” EDS is an annual trade show and meeting place for manufacturers of electronic components, test instruments and accessories, for the distributors through whom they bring their goods to commercial, industrial and institutional users, and for the manufacturers' representatives who provide the year-round interface. EDS incorporates exhibits, workshops and seminars, and private conferences, designed to educate attendees about matters affecting the industry. For more information on EDS, visit www.edsc.org.
