Arrow Component Information Services Options

Arrow is committed to providing a flexible set of information and services designed to help our customers efficiently assess the level of environmental compliance of current designs as well as identify compliant replacement alternatives.

What are the options?

Arrow recognizes that some customers may wish to gather compliance related data directly from the component manufacturer. In order to make this easier we have provided direct links to the relevant research centers of our suppliers' sites.

In addition, Arrow is actively collecting compliance information across a broad spectrum of data elements and suppliers.  This information ranges from supplier roadmaps and part compliance status, to more complex manufacturing characteristics, and material composition data.

The level of data you need and the level of flexibility and tools you require will determine the best options for your needs:

    • Supplier and part status compliance information, including compliant cross reference information are currently available without charge for existing customers through their normal business relationship with Arrow.  Customers are encouraged to contact their local sales office for assistance.
    • Additional levels of environmental data and the utility to self-research, collaborate with peers, manage projects and receive automatic alerts on supplier initiated product change notifications are also be available to electronic manufacturers, regardless of their business relationship with Arrow in all major regions of the world through Arrow's Component Information Services (Arrow Risk Manager, Arrow Alert and Global Explorer).  These services are available on a subscription basis and customers are encouraged to contact their local sales office for additional information.

This tailored approach is designed to offer customers the right scope and scale of data to ensure effective and efficient customer solutions.  View, download or print the Arrow Component Information Services brochure (pdf).

Q: What additional benefit do I get with the subscription service?

There are more benefits to the subscription service than can be summarized here but at a high level, subscribers to Arrow's full suite of Component Information Services receive:

  • Access to online tools and data that allow self-research and internal collaboration on BOM status and ongoing projects.
  • Access to technical parameters, procurement risk profiles (including availability & lead-time indications) and environmental status information on 23 million parts.
  • Constant and immediate updates to this data including automatic notification services on supplier EOL's, PCNs (including environmental related announcements) and changes in risk procurement status.
  • Coverage that exceeds Arrow's own supplier line card.
  • Ability to identify environmental compliance at both the BOM and individual part level, identify exact compliant cross references or similar parts and determine procurement risk associated with those compliant parts.

Q: What is Arrow's source for this information?

As a supply chain partner to more than 600 global suppliers, Arrow has direct and ongoing information sharing relationships that continually feed and update our Ubiquidata™ database (which fuels Arrow's online information services).

Q: How often is this information updated?

One of the unique aspects of Arrow as a component information service provider is that the Ubiquidata™ database that fuels our customer solutions also fuels our own internal operations. As a result, the quality and freshness of our data is of special interest to us - and, a clearly differentiating feature in the marketplace.

As an example, our Arrow Alert service, which provides email notifications to subscribers regarding supplier notices of interest to them, delivers the following turnaround:

  • 24 hour turnaround on supplier release End of Life announcements (EOLs)
  • 72 hour turnaround on all other supplier Product Change Notifications (PCNs)

Q: What is Arrow Risk Manager?

Arrow Risk Manager is designed to reduce risk and improve the efficiency of your supply chain by helping you make safer component selection and purchasing decisions. This is achieved by providing data and functionality that allow the identification and comparison of the technical specifications, environmental compliance status and relative procurement risk of components upon demand, at any stage in your product life cycle.

Q: What is Arrow Alert?

Arrow Alert provides real-time notifications regarding critical changes to components on both existing parts lists and/or designs in process. These notifications cover end of life (EOL) and part change notifications (PCNs) including those related to environmental compliance changes (which may be critical in the case of suppliers that are not changing their part numbers), and changes in procurement risk factors for the electronic components of hundreds of global suppliers.

Q: Do I really need a supplier notification Alert service?

Many experts tracking end of life components have noted a steady increase and predict that the volume of EOL notices will increase significantly as suppliers transition components to meet RoHS and other environmental regulations. Currently, EOL notices are issued on approximately 13,000 components each month.

The Arrow Alert service will keep you in the loop by delivering only the types of notifications you select on only the part lists you designate for online monitoring. Regardless of if, where, or when you buy the components, Arrow Alert will keep you informed of related supplier announcements as well as changes in procurement risk factors. And your information is kept confidential, even Arrow's own sales teams will not have visibility to your Arrow Alert parts list.

Q: What is Global Explorer?

Global Explorer is a comprehensive, easy-to-use parametric search tool that is embedded in Arrow's Risk Manager service. Global Explorer gives you the flexibility to search by part number, keyword, choose multiple manufacturers and parameters, or even use the product tree. To aid your research, you can incorporate your Master List/AVL into the search. Global Explorer delivers the ability to dynamically change and compare results independently, by allowing you to:

  • Compare components
  • Find functionally similar parts
  • Compare and note cost savings
  • Get cross references
  • Manipulate search criteria without starting a new search
  • View environmental compliance status by part or for an entire AVL
  • View the supplier data sheet

Q: Is this data restricted to Arrow's supplier linecard?

No.

The majority of the data held in Arrow's Ubiquidata™ database is driven from direct relationships that Arrow has with its 600 global supplier partners. It does include however, data from a few select suppliers that customers have identified to us as critical in terms of coverage but that Arrow currently does not have an ongoing business relationship with. As you can imagine however, the fact that Arrow conducts business in over 40 countries throughout the world with most of the world's major suppliers result in coverage of commercially viable electronic components that is hard to match.
