Arrow Demonstrates Support for Public Television on Long Island

Arrow volunteers celebrate during the check presentation by Ira Birns.

Arrow recently partnered with WLIW21, Long Island's local public broadcasting station, in a special “Corporate Challenge” during the station's live broadcast of Lidia's Family Table Favorites , a television program starring world-renowned restaurateur and celebrity chef, Lidia Matticchio Bastianich.

During the broadcast, Arrow donated $20,000 while more than 25 Long Island-based Arrow employee volunteers answered studio phones as WLIW viewers called with membership pledges. Thanks to Arrow's pledge and volunteer efforts, WLIW21 was able to raise more than $65,000 during the course of the night.

Ira Birns, vice president and treasurer, represented Arrow and spoke live on the air about the company and employees with WLIW hosts. He also presented the station with two checks totaling $20,000. “Arrow is committed to supporting the community where our employees and their families live and work,” said Birns. “We were very pleased to sponsor the WLIW Corporate Challenge and donate our time in support of public television here on Long Island.”
