Arrow Employees Contribute to Tsunami Relief Effort

Arrow employees worldwide have demonstrated their kindness and generosity by already donating well over $50,000 USD as a part of Arrow's special matching gifts programs for tsunami relief efforts in Asia and Africa.

Arrow Asia Pac made a $10,000 contribution to UNICEF/Hong Kong for immediate relief efforts, and implemented a matching gifts program for Asia Pac employees. Salman Syed, Vice President of Human Resources, Asia Pac, said, “After witnessing such devastation in our Asia Pac region, it is a natural effort for us to assist the relief efforts in any way we can.”

In the U.S. and Canada, Arrow implemented a special online matching gifts program enabling employees to choose from several relief organizations for contributions. Through the end of February, Arrow will match support pledges up to a total of $100,000. “The employee response thus far has been incredible,” said Jacqueline Strayer, Vice President, Corporate Communications. “It is heartening to see Arrow employees generously give to those who have been affected by the tsunami.”

Various relief efforts also are ongoing within Arrow in South America and throughout Europe. In Northern Europe, for example, Arrow employees are participating in their own matching gifts program, and Arrow Nordic guaranteed an additional $28,000 to the Red Cross organization. “A human tragedy of this caliber demands global support on an unprecedented level,” said Karl Johan Lier, Managing Director, Arrow Nordic. “As a responsible corporate citizen, we are eager to contribute to the relief efforts in a region where many Arrow employees live and work.”
