Team LILAC poses for a picture in Times Square before the start of the walk.
On May 6, a team of six Melville-based Arrow employees participated in the New York City Revlon Run/Walk for Women, a five-kilometer run/walk and health exposition intended to raise awareness and critical funds for women's cancers research, counseling and outreach programs.
The LILAC (Long Island Ladies Against Cancer) team raised a total of nearly $3,000 to support the eradication and research of women's cancers, and joined more than 40,000 men, women and children in the annual run/walk from Times Square to Central Park.
The six members of the LILAC team were Janet Dallojacono, administrative assistant; Joann Fox, logistics project manager; Mayra Gonzalez, manager, IT LAN Services; Judy Jacobson, project manager; Barbara Liquorie, office administrator; and Allison Poler, contracts administrator.
Through Arrow's Employee Volunteer Team Grants Program for U.S. employees, each team member also earned a $50 donation from Arrow to the Entertainment Industry Foundation, which disbursed the money it raised to 15 non-profit beneficiaries serving cancer victims and their families.
