Long Island Charities Give Thanks to Arrow

Arrow recently made charitable contributions to support the vital community outreach programs of two nonprofit organizations on Long Island, the Institute for Student Achievement (ISA) and the United Way of Long Island.

The ISA is a nonprofit education organization that partners with local school districts to create small autonomous schools and transform large comprehensive high schools into academically rigorous, personalized learning environments that prepare at-risk students for success in college and beyond. Arrow’s contribution of $10,000 aided the ISA in the development and implementation of Small Learning Communities at two at-risk high schools on Long Island. The United Way of Long Island is committed to creating lasting, positive changes in the communities and people of Long Island. Arrow’s contribution of $25,000 supported the organization’s YouthBuild initiative, a program that enables unemployed and under-educated youth to work toward their GED or high school diploma while learning construction skills by building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people. Representatives from both the ISA and United Way visited Arrow’s headquarters in Melville, N.Y., recently to thank the company for providing the much-needed financial support to run these important programs. Former members of Arrow’s Contributions Committee were on hand to greet the organizations and congratulate them on the success of their respective initiatives.
