In early October, a team of Arrow employees from the Indianapolis facilities, and the Habitat for Humanity organization, finished building a home to help provide affordable housing for a local family in need. The six-week project enabled more than 50 Arrow employees and family members to work side-by-side with Michael and Stephanie Leonard in building their first home.
For the employees and their family members involved, the experience was unforgettable. “Working on this project has been incredible,” said Doug Tapscott, Facilities Manager at SupportNet. “This was the first time I had a chance to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and I will definitely do it again.”
Kim Hancock, Inside Sales Representative at Arrow Electronics Components, was glad her family was able to get involved with such a good cause. “My husband and 15-year-old son participated, and I think we got as much from the project as the homeowners did,” said Kim. “The great feeling we got from helping their family is hard to describe.”
On the final day of building, Fred Harris, Habitat's Director of Grants, thanked Arrow for its corporate support in Indianapolis, and around the country. “It's companies like Arrow that make this possible. Without their help we could not accomplish what we do.”
