Arrow Electronics Makes Contribution to Mile High Youth Corps

Arrow Electronics has made a $10,000 charitable contribution to Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) to help provide employment and educational opportunities for more than 150 urban youth in the Denver metro area. MHYC helps young people develop technical job skills and prepare for the workforce by providing work experiences in urban neighborhoods, public parks and open spaces in the Denver community, which is home to more than 500 Arrow employees and Arrow’s third largest facility in the United States.

“Arrow has a strong commitment to supporting the communities where its employees live and work,” said Don Schlidt, vice president and general manager, Arrow/Zeus Electronics, and MHYC Board member. “We are proud to support the Mile High Youth Corps’ commitment to helping our young people develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom, the workforce and everyday life.”

Throughout the year, MHYC youth crews will complete a variety of projects that improve neighborhoods, protect the environment and help the disadvantaged. These projects will provide lasting benefits to the community and offer significant job training opportunities for young people. In addition to their accomplishments on service projects, they will work towards educational goals such as passing the General Educational Development (GED) Test and earning AmeriCorps education awards for college.
