William (Bill) E. Mitchell joined Arrow Electronics, Inc. as President and Chief Executive Officer in February 2003, and was named to the additional position of Chairman of the Board in May 2006. Mr. Mitchell currently holds the position of Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Mitchell began his career in 1973 at Raychem Corporation, where he spent 20 years in various roles of increasing responsibility in finance, manufacturing operations, international operations, and worldwide sales and marketing. In 1993, he was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Nashua Corporation, a manufacturer of specialty products and services for print application needs. In 1995, he became Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sequel, Inc., then a privately held disk-drive repair and maintenance company. Prior to joining Arrow, Mr. Mitchell led the successful formation of Solectron Global Services, the global services arm of Solectron Corporation, now part of Flextronics International.
Mr. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Princeton University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, was a University Scholar and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his master's degree in engineering from the University of Michigan where he was named a National Science Foundation Fellow. He continues to be a member of the University of Michigan College of Engineering National Advisory Committee.
Currently, Mr. Mitchell serves on the Boards of Directors of Brown-Forman Corporation, Rogers Corporation and Humana Incorporated. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Eisenhower Fellowships and the Board of Trustees at the Menlo School in Atherton, California.
An active participant and supporter of the performing arts, Mr. Mitchell is a member of the Executive Board of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund's Leadership Committee.
