Arrow Recognized by InfoWorld for New Shop Floor Control System

Arrow was named to the 2004 InfoWorld 100 for its innovative Shop Floor Control (SFC) system. InfoWorld, a publication that covers IT products for technology experts, publishes the InfoWorld 100 Awards annually to recognize companies that have made the best use of technology to enhance their business.

The SFC system is used in Arrow’s programming centers in Reno (U.S.), Penang (Malaysia), Bedford (England) and Hong Kong to ensure consistent quality control of customer products worldwide. “The SFC system standardizes service and quality globally, and speeds up the programming process,” said Rob Minicozzi, Vice President, Applications Development. “Customers can now migrate the production of a part to a new region of the world with only a 24-hour turnaround.”

Many Arrow customers have the same programming needs around the world. The SFC system provides a central database of all programming instructions for every customer part. This streamlines the migration process of customer parts by enabling engineers to download instructions to the local programming machine in a matter of minutes. The system also generates identically programmed devices from any Arrow Programming Center, regardless of where the component was programmed originally. Currently, there are more than 250 Arrow employees using the SFC system.
